On January 7th 2025, at Hall A2 of Nghe An University of Economics, now Nghe An University, the Workshop “New trends in English teaching” was successfully held with the participation of many lecturers and English teachers from universities, high schools and English centers in the province. The event was co-organized by the Regional English Language Office (RELO) and the US Embassy in Vietnam, bringing new perspectives on the use of modern English teaching methods to improve the quality of English teaching in Vietnam.
Overview of the Workshop
The workshop focused on discussing new trends in English teaching. The topic of teaching poetry for learners to develop vocabulary and creativity by senior expert Mr. Eran Williams suggested a new trend in English teaching. In his presentation, Mr. Eran Williams affirmed that teaching poetry not only helps learners expand their vocabulary but also encourages them to explore their personal creativity, thereby creating interest and motivation in learning English.

In addition to Mr. Eran’s report and sharing, the Workshop also discussed how to apply AI in lesson design, classroom management and learner assessment, and AI application in teaching English grammar through the presentation of Ms. Nguyen Van Thu – Nghe An University and Ms. Nguyen Thi Le Hang – Vinh University of Technical Education.
Speaking at the Workshop, representative of Nghe An University, Dr. Truong Quang Ngan – Vice President emphasized “Education is a bridge to help build the future. Applying new trends in English teaching not only improves the quality of education but also contributes to promoting cooperation between Vietnam and the United States.”

The workshop is not only an opportunity for lecturers and teachers to update new English teaching trends, but also a place to share experiences and develop professional cooperation networks and professional development.
At the end of the Workshop, the Director of the RELO Office, US Embassy highly appreciated the quality of the presented content as well as the interaction, exchange and sharing of the Workshop participants. He believed that, with the development of technology, English teaching will become more and more creative, effective and suitable to the practical needs of learners. He also expressed his hope that the knowledge and experience shared in the Workshop would continue to be applied in practice, contributing to improve the quality of English teaching in Vietnam.
