On the afternoon of April 21, 2025, in a solemn and celebratory atmosphere, Nghe An University held the official ceremony to announce the Decision on the merger of Nghe An College of Education into Nghe An University of Economics, and the subsequent renaming of the institution to Nghe An University.
This event not only marks a significant turning point in the university’s development journey but also affirms Nghe An Province’s pioneering role in advancing the quality of higher education and meeting the growing demand for highly qualified human resources in the era of international integration.
In attendance at the ceremony were Mr. Phan Chi Hieu – President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council.
Representing Nghe An Province were members of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, including Mr. Bui Dinh Long – Vice President of the Provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Pham Tuan Vinh – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Provincial People’s Committee; and Mr. Thai Van Thanh – Director of the Department of Education and Training.
The event also welcomed representatives from various provincial departments, agencies, universities, colleges, and a large number of former and current leaders and lecturers of the university.
In a formal and respectful setting, the Organizing Committee announced the official appointments to the University Council, the position of Rector, and the Vice Rectors of Nghe An University.
Accordingly, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hieu, former Rector of Nghe An University of Economics, has been appointed Rector of Nghe An University. Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tuong, former Chairman of the University Council of Nghe An University of Economics, has been appointed Chairman of the University Council of Nghe An University.
Mr. Truong Quang Ngan, Mr. Tran Anh Tu, and Ms. Dam Thi Ngoc Nga have been appointed Vice Rectors of Nghe An University.
In the time ahead, the university’s departments, faculties, centers, and affiliated units will continue to be streamlined and restructured in alignment with a modern, efficient university governance model, ensuring readiness to meet the development requirements of the new phase.
